In a company like Cenlar FSB there is a lot of bureaucracy involved so the timeline of the modification process varies on reason that are sometimes simple but sometimes complicated. Here are a few reasons why the answer to this question has such complicated answer.

For one,  Cenlar Finance works as loan sevicer only. They represent debt on someone else’s behalf. This hugely effects the decision taking capability of the company. As a home loan servicing company they follow the Pooling and Servicing Agreement (PSA), This serves like an agreement with all institution. They are not allowed to make all the  decisions on the investor’s behalf for which they are servicing the loan but only some of the decisions. This means that they have to get confirmation from the investor for every loan modification that they want to make. Certain investors take the process of making decision and do it themselves. In this kind of regulated business the involving of more hands increases the time frame for the processing leaving Cenlar‘s hands tied.

Another issue, In the Cenlar loan modification process the timeline is crucial. The servicers usually prioritize the application by the date it was received but it depends upon other factors too. The applications are usually sorted by first come first serve basis but it depends on if you have a near foreclosure date. If that is the case then it is likely that you application will be pushed to the front of the line and considered sooner for the mortgage asisstance. It must be kept in mind that the institutions like Cenlar have foreclosure dates for almost every day. Due to this, the process does not proceeds as quickly as you want it to.

It also depends on the factors from outside the bank such as how fast they can get the valuation on the property and how fast they receive the legible documents.

If I could give them 0 stars I would! DO NOT USE CENLAR!!! Every single employee I’ve talked to is SORRY! They are not trained and they for sure are useless! They say, “Okay we will call you back,” and NOTHING! I’ve been dealing with an issue caused by THEM for 3 months now! They “lost” one of my payments so I paid over the phone to find out that they keep reversing my payments even though my payments have cleared my account. They keep telling me I’m late when I’M NOT! They have reported it to my credit and dropped my score 81 points! I’ve sent in proof of payment 4 different times!!! And they still “can’t find a payment.” THE PROOF IS IN FRONT OF THEIR FACE!!! When I try to explain my issues to a rep they don’t want to hear it and will not listen!! I’ve talked to supervisors, and they are just as bad!!! I AM BEYOND LIVID! DO NOT USE THEM. THEY ARE CROOKS!!!

I too am wondering how in the world this company is still in business and how the employees can sleep at night! About 3 years ago we had to go through a modification on our loan. I did everything I was told and was quoted a figure for a new monthly payment. For the next FOUR MONTHS. I made my payment on time. Then in August I get a letter of foreclosure! I called and was told the payment I had made each month was too low and I was getting further and further behind each month. All four months not one time did anyone who took my let me know this! I found out the imbecile who did my modification was no longer employed there. Had been fired. I told them I was quoted a too low payment by this person but it didn’t matter.

After taking more than a year to complete my loan modification, I am still 2 months in default. During this time, CENLAR sent me final modification papers 3 separate times over 6 months before getting the figures correct. They never communicated with me regarding why there was such a long delay. Somehow after off the delay and after they calculated all the trial payments, I am still 2 months behind. HELP! After constantly calling them, they have no solution for this. They are now sending pre-foreclosure notices once again.
